How to capture screen shots
|
A screen shot is an exact picture of what appears on your computer's screen.
If you need for whatever reason to take "a picture" of what is currently being
displayed on your monitor, you're going to need a screen shot.
As veteran Windows users know, there's a low-cost way to capture (get) screen shots:
- Press the Print Screen key to capture (get a picture of) the entire
screen*
- Switch to your word processing or image editing program and press Ctrl-V
to paste the image into your document or image file.
At that point, you can format the screen shot any way you like, including cropping it
if your program allows.
To capture only the current window (rather than the whole screen), press Alt-Print
Screen.
Either way, Windows stores the image in memory until you replace it by copying something
else. It should be noted that the above procedures in addition to your word processor can
also be done with WordPad or MS Paint.
